Balizi Agri-Action (BAA) is a women-founded organization transforming lives in Kigoma, Tanzania through community-led change, economic justice, and environmental resilience.
Empowering local leadership
Climate-smart agriculture
Building prosperity from grassroots
Born from the collective vision of small-scale women farmers, BAA is more than an initiative; it is a movement for community-led change.
Founded on January 12, 2023, BAA emerged from a shared determination among women in Kigoma district to overcome poverty and exclusion through solidarity, innovation, and sustainable agriculture. Starting with palm oil farming groups, these women expanded their efforts into livestock keeping, aquaculture, and climate-smart practices.
We believe that rural women and youth are not passive recipients of aid but powerful leaders of transformation. BAA exists to amplify their voices, strengthen their enterprises, and create a future where prosperity begins from the grassroots.
A future where rural communities thrive through sustainable agriculture, empowered women and youth drive transformative growth through mentorship and innovation, and gender equality and climate resilience are fully realized.
Four core program areas designed to create sustainable, inclusive, and locally led economic opportunities.
Supporting women's farming groups in sustainable oil palm cultivation, processing, and marketing through training in good agricultural practices and cooperative marketing strategies.
Diversifying income through fish farming, poultry farming, and livestock keeping using environmentally sound systems adapted to local conditions.
Equipping communities with climate-smart solutions including agroforestry, organic farming practices, and soil and water conservation techniques.
Providing mentorship and coaching through community-based training in agriculture, entrepreneurship, financial literacy, and leadership development.
Though we are a young organization, the early outcomes of our work are already shaping lives and futures across Kigoma.
Mobilized into organized groups working in palm oil, livestock, and aquaculture
Community-based trainings delivered on agroecology, business skills, and livestock care
Women earning income from value-added palm oil processing and livestock
"Before BAA, I didn't think I could lead. Now, I help other women learn how to farm better and sell what they grow."
